Aged Care Staffing

Care Workforce Connect · An initiative of UniMinistry Foundation

An aged care workforce that belongs

We connect aged care providers with compassionate, values-aligned carers — then walk alongside them with pastoral care, mentoring and community, so your people thrive and your residents feel the difference.

The challenge

Aged care teams are stretched

Aged care providers across Australia are being asked to do more than ever. Care-minute requirements and 24/7 registered nurse coverage have lifted the bar, demand keeps rising, and staffing shortages mean skilled carers are hard to find — and even harder to keep.

Behind every gap in the roster there are people: residents waiting for connection, and carers at risk of burning out. We believe the answer isn’t just filling shifts. It’s building teams who feel supported, valued and at home.

Why we’re different

A charity, not a recruiter

UniMinistry Foundation Ltd is a non-denominational Christian charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (Item 1). Our purpose is simple: advancing wellbeing and preventing social isolation — for students, for older Australians, and for the carers who serve them.

That purpose shapes everything. We’re driven by mission, not margin — any surplus from our partnerships is reinvested into scholarships, pastoral care and community programs. And as an ACNC-registered charity, our governance and reporting are there for everyone to see.

How we walk with you

Connect

We introduce you to values-aligned carers — including nursing and care students and graduates, local and international, who are building their lives and careers here in Australia.

Support

Every carer we connect is backed by our pastoral care team: mentoring, chaplaincy and practical help — including settlement support and a ready-made community for those new to Australia.

Belong

Shared meals, events and intergenerational programs bring carers, students and residents together. People stay where they belong — and your residents feel it too.

The benefits

What this means for aged care providers

Retention through belongingCarers with mentoring, community and purpose are far more likely to stay — reducing agency reliance and constant re-recruitment.

Wellbeing on the rosterSupported carers bring their best to every shift, and residents feel it in warmer, more consistent care.

Culturally rich teamsWe help carers from many backgrounds feel at home in your community — and help your community embrace them.

Our programs

Already walking alongside older Australians

Through our Generations Connect program, trained student volunteers visit aged care residents for structured life-story conversations — creating personalised keepsake booklets their families treasure.

Every UniMinistry connection, workforce or volunteer, is built on the same belief: connection changes lives at every age.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Who are the carers you connect us with?

People with a genuine heart for older Australians — including students and graduates of nursing and care courses, both local and international, connected to us through our campus and community networks. We look beyond qualifications to character, and we get to know every person we introduce.

Are you a recruitment agency?

No — we’re a registered charity. We make introductions and provide wraparound pastoral and community support. Where formal recruitment, migration or employment services are required, we work alongside appropriately licensed professionals.

What does it cost?

As a charity, we don’t profit from placements — any surplus goes straight back into scholarships and community programs. We’ll happily walk you through it.
